Providing Readiness Skill-building Training for High School Students

Through one-on-one meetings and/or small group workshops, SSW individualizes employability training to each participant’s needs.

Participants will receive prevailing Ontario student minimum wage rates while accessing employability training which includes employment-related certifications such as First Aid/CPR, Food Handlers, and High 5 to boost their knowledge when entering the workforce.

At the end of the program, graduates will be employed part-time and 
have received a minimum of 12 weeks post-employment job coaching 
and guidance.

Eligibility:

  • Between the ages of 15–18 (21 if a Special Education student) who are:
    • Enrolled in secondary school
    • On summer break between secondary years
    • On summer break between graduation and first-year post-secondary enrollment
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada and meet provincial requirements
  • Resident of York Region
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN)
  • Have access to WIFI and a computer/laptop
