YJC Youth Success Story

YJC Youth Success Story

“360°kids Youth Job Connection helped me in so many ways. I was able to gain job skills, build my interview skills and get a job at Canadian Tire. I am so grateful for all the opportunities the program has given me.”
– I.A Feedback on Youth Job Connection

The Youth Job Connection program serves youth aged 15 to 29 who experience multiple and/or complex barriers to employment by providing more intensive supports beyond traditional job search and placement programs.

The program is run twice a year. Participants first complete 60 hours of pre-employment workshops which include topics such as resume writing, interview skills, customer service and more. They can opt in for specialized training certificates ie. First Aid/CPR, Smart Serve, WHMIS, Working at Heights, Security, etc.

After completing the workshops, participants will be supported by a 360°kids Job Developer with finding a paid employment opportunity.

Youth Job Connection Summer for 2019-2020 will be wrapping up shortly with the last two participants in the process of completing their placements.  All other participants have successfully completed their placement opportunities and got hired on or returned to school with experiences to add to their resumes.

Success Story

I.A. is a recent immigrant from Afghanistan. He moved to Canada with his sister in search of better opportunities. When he joined YJC back in September he was eager to start working in order to save money to be able to provide for his family. I.A. successfully completed the pre-employment training. He successfully landed a placement at Canadian Tire. After completing his internship, I.A was offered a full-time position.

Today, I.A is working at Canadian Tire full-time. I.A. is now able to provide for himself and begin to build a life for him and his family in Canada.

“I.A. is a hard worker, is always on time and is able to complete tasks effectively. He has been a great addition to our team and we look forward to hiring him on once his placement is complete.”

– I.A.’s employer at Canadian Tire, Alfin
